The Fleetwood smack Harriet was recovered from the Duddon Estuary, for renovation. It has been stated that she was abandoned there and left to rot. However, information from Steve Hicks has pointed to a different story as follows.....

Harriet was, in fact, "dry landed" and used as a hostel for children from deprived areas. When it became obvious that she was in urgent need of extensive repair work, she was offered to Fleetwood for restoration and replaced with a similar vessel, Sulwath.

Steve would like any information that he can get about the background of the vessel. If anyone is familiar with her past, please let me know.
