| Notes | CARTAGENA left Fleetwood in the charge of a deep sea pilot, Peter Peterson. She also carried a skipper and a crew of 12 men and she was bound for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and new owners. There was a westerly gale blowing as she sailed and it was the last time that she was ever seen and it is believed that she foundered in the Irish Sea, near Liverpool Bay, on her passage between Lune Deeps and Hough Skerries. The subsequent discovery, near Llandudno, of a lifeboat and a barrel of oil belonging to the vessel, only served to confirm the fact. The exact position of the wreck is unknown but it is thought to be in the region of 53. 42,00 N by 04. 00,00 W. |
