Ailsea was typical of the inshore fishing vessels that contributed the the fishing heritage as well as the wealth of the town. Here she leaves the fish dock and passes through to Wyre Dock. She was owned and operated by Joe Parkinson, Pim Grace and Duckie Burgess. Joe can be seen on the foredeck near the mast. Some idea of the timescale can realised by looking past the foremast. There is a coal flyer on the dockside, in the background.
Pim, aka James Grace, was a well known Fleetwood fisherman who was born in 1914 and died in 1997 after spending almost 55 years at sea, gaining his skippers ticket in the process.
