Achroite was built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell in 1934, for Kingston Steam Trawling Co. of Hull.
On August the 11th. 1949 she was purchased by the firm of J. Marr & Son and stationed at Fleetwood from January 29th. 1952. She continued sailing for Marr until May 14th. 1960 when she was sold to the Cevic Steam Fishing Co.

Les Howard, who has sent me so many invaluable snippets and pictures once had the option to sail on Achroite. When he saw the old vessel tied up alongside he changed his mind. Now, during the construction of a model of the Milford Star, he is struck by the incredible likeness of the two vessels. I have included several pictures of the model and one of the original vessel for comparison.

The model is seen here with the trawl gear that Les has had made.

The detail on the gear is extremely accurate. Take a look at the net and the figures on the deck, particularly the man with the gaff.
